How Does The Job Centre Plus Need Improving?

So, how does it need improving?

The Job Centre Plus Website

For years it’s been the same. The Job Centre Plus part of direct gov's website has consisted of...... a job searching tool. And, considering that this website is one of the requirements Job Centre Plus users face, it's not the best job search tool online. In fact it's one of the worse. It ties in with what is wrong with the way some JCP staff act; they have a go at you for not been able to find a job, or say you haven't applied for enough from their site, yet theirs actually never loads of jobs to apply for. Now I don't mean this in the wrong context, I know that there is a shortage of jobs, but there is far more than the JCP normally report on their website.

Here's the biggie then. What needs to happen to turn the Job Centre Plus around, bringing it from a 'all too often low standard of service' to a well ran, helpful and good customer serviced based experiance?

I think the service does drastically need improving. I don't think people should have to put up with the bad service they so often receive, and at an organization where it's so important the staff get it right, too. It's not even that it's one branch of the Job Centre Plus that lacks quality, it's every branch up and down the country, where the overall standard that falls so short.

  1. Make The Customers The Piority

One of the overall feelings that I got from my time using the Job Centre Plus, was that the system was created to work inline with the needs of the Job Centre Plus staff, rather then the customers. This is, ofcourse completely against how the service should be ran.

"Thousands of new jobs available every week. Alternatively, look for voluntary work using the link at the bottom of this page."

That's what the job search page states-never have I once witnessed the 'thousands of jobs' though. In fact they have less then just about any other job finding website I know. Not only that. the job search results is padded out with many commission only based roles, cold calling and job agencies that never bother to get back to you, when you apply for a role their advertising. It's worth a look to see what's on offer, but for what's meant to be the 'go to for finding work' they don't come up trumps.
